Rajouri, Jan 8, KNT: Security forces recovered and safely defused a suspected improvised explosive device in the Kallar forest area of Dori Maal in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district, averting a potential threat.
Officials said the suspected explosive device was detected during a routine area domination and search operation in the forested belt. Following the detection, the area was immediately cordoned off as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of locals and movement in the vicinity.

A bomb disposal squad was subsequently pressed into service, which carried out a controlled operation and safely defused the suspected IED without causing any damage or injuries.
Officials said further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the nature of the device and the circumstances under which it was planted. Security in the surrounding areas has also been intensified as a precautionary measure.
