Suspicious pigeon caught near Pakistan border in Akhnoor

Jammu, Jan 10, KNT: A suspicious pigeon was caught in the Palawala area of Akhnoor near the Pakistan border on Saturday and later handed over to the police, triggering an investigation by security agencies.

According to officials, the pigeon was caught by a local boy who noticed unusual markings on the bird. The pigeon was found to be carrying a ring with inscriptions on its claws, while a stamp-like marking was also visible on its wings, raising suspicion among locals.

After being caught, the pigeon was handed over to Police Station Khour. Police officials declined to comment on the specifics of the case but confirmed that an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the facts surrounding the markings and the origin of the pigeon.

Officials said such cases are treated with caution, particularly in border areas, and the matter is being examined to rule out any security-related concerns. The pigeon has been taken into custody for further verification, and relevant agencies may also be consulted as part of the probe. [KNT]
