Traffic moves smoothly on NH44, no congestion reported, Authorities on alert amid snowfall forecast

Srinagar, Jan 22, KNT: The Jammu Srinagar National Highway remained open for two way traffic on Thursday, with vehicles plying smoothly and no traffic congestion reported along the vital arterial road, officials said.

Traffic authorities said that movement of both light motor vehicles and heavy vehicles continued uninterrupted between Jammu and Srinagar. No traffic jams were reported at any major stretch of the highway, including vulnerable points near Banihal and Qazigund.

Officials said the smooth flow of traffic comes ahead of the forecast of fresh snowfall and rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir from late Thursday evening. In view of the weather prediction, concerned departments have kept men and machinery on high alert to ensure quick response in case of snowfall or any disruption on the highway.
