Traffic Police seize bike of chronic stunt biker in Shopian

Srinagar, Jan 2, KNT: Acting strictly against rash and stunt riding, the Traffic Enforcement team of Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Friday traced and intercepted a chronic stunt biker in South Kashmir during a special enforcement drive.

Officials said the action was carried out under the supervision of Ravinder Pal Singh, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, along with Mushtaq Ahmad. The biker was identified as Tajamul Mohi ud din Wagay of Ganapora in Shopian.

The motorcycle used for stunt riding was seized under relevant provisions of law. Police said a counselling session was also held during which the biker was educated about the legal consequences of stunt riding and the negative impact such acts have on students and youth, particularly when videos of such stunts are uploaded on social networking platforms.

Traffic Police Rural Kashmir said special directions have already been issued by the SSP to field officers to strictly curb rash, negligent and stunt driving across rural areas. The department reiterated its zero tolerance policy towards dangerous driving that poses a threat to public safety.

Motorists were once again advised not to hand over vehicles to minors, stunt riders or persons without valid driving licences. Police warned that such negligence can lead to serious road accidents and loss of lives, for which strict action will be taken under law. [KNT]
