Reasi, Feb 2, KNT: The arrest of Junior Engineer Rahul Gandotra by the Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau witnessed high drama on the spot, as the accused Junior Engineer repeatedly attempted to escape and showed open reluctance to enter the ACB vehicle after being caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 in Reasi district of Jammu yesterday, official sources said.

According to officials, soon after the trap was executed successfully and the bribe money recovered in the presence of independent witnesses, the accused created a commotion at the scene and tried to flee multiple times in an apparent bid to evade arrest. Each escape attempt was swiftly foiled by alert ACB sleuths, who chased and apprehended him repeatedly, preventing any possibility of escape.

Official sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the accused engineer resisted entering the official ACB vehicle and continued to argue and create resistance, forcing the trap team to exercise restraint while strictly following legal procedure. Despite the resistance, the ACB team maintained control of the situation and ensured that the arrest was carried out lawfully and safely.

The accused JE, posted as Technical Assistant in the BDO Office Gulabgarh, Mahore, was finally secured and taken into custody by the ACB team. Officials said his conduct during the arrest further reinforced the seriousness of the case, particularly in view of the fact that three earlier cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act have already been registered against him at the ACB Udhampur Police Station.
