GMC Anantnag Secures DrNB Cardiology Seats in Major Academic Breakthrough

Anantnag, Feb 17, KNT: In a significant academic and healthcare milestone for South Kashmir, the Government Medical College Anantnag has been accredited with three DrNB Cardiology seats by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences.

The accreditation marks a major advancement for the Department of Cardiology at the institution, enabling it to offer super-specialty training equivalent to DM in Cardiology. Officials described the development as a landmark achievement that will strengthen both academic excellence and advanced cardiac care services in the region.

With a bed strength exceeding 500, the medical college has steadily expanded its clinical and teaching infrastructure over the years. The grant of DrNB seats is expected to further enhance its capacity to provide specialised cardiac treatment while simultaneously nurturing highly trained cardiologists within the Valley.

The achievement has been realised under the patronage of Principal and Dean Rukhsana Najeeb and the leadership of Head of Department Cardiology Syed Maqbool. Faculty members including Shamim Iqbal, Showkat Hussain Shah and Shahood Kakroo were also credited for their sustained efforts in meeting the stringent accreditation standards laid down by the National Board.
