Home Minister visits Hiranagar sector, chairs high-level meeting at Lok Bhawan


Kathua, Feb 6, KNT: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting in Jammu as part of his two-day visit to the Union Territory, focusing on the overall law and order situation and counter-terrorism measures.
The meeting was held at Lok Bhawan and was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior police officers and top civil administration officials. The Home Minister reviewed the prevailing security scenario and preparedness of forces operating in the region.
Earlier in the day, Amit Shah visited forward areas along the International Border in the Hiranagar sector, where he toured the Gurnam and Bobiya border outposts. At the Bobiya outpost, he paid tributes at the ‘Ajay Prahari’ memorial and interacted with Border Security Force personnel deployed along the frontier.
Addressing BSF personnel, the Home Minister said that visits to border posts provide him a deeper understanding of the sense of duty and commitment with which personnel perform their responsibilities under challenging conditions. He highlighted the role played by the BSF in safeguarding borders and maintaining national security.

Shah also acknowledged the force’s contributions across different parts of the country, noting that the BSF has upheld high standards of professionalism and courage wherever it has been deployed.
Officials said the Home Minister will continue his engagements during the visit, including further reviews of security preparedness and discussions on key administrative and development-related matters in the Union Territory. [KNT]
