Motorcycle hits electric pole in Budgam, rider killed


Budgam, Feb 6, KNT: One person was killed while another sustained injuries in a road traffic accident reported from Soibugh area of Budgam district in the early hours of Friday, officials said.

The incident occurred at Pal Mohalla, Soibugh, when a motorcycle hit an electric pole near a residential area, resulting in critical injuries to the rider and injuries to another individual.

The deceased has been identified as Bashir Ahmad Pal, son of Ghulam Ahmad Pal, aged around 40 years, a local of Soibugh. He suffered severe head trauma in the accident and was referred from Community Health Centre Soibugh to JVC Hospital Bemina, Srinagar, where doctors declared him brought dead. He is survived by four children.

The second injured person, Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Mohammad Malik, aged 48 years and also a resident of Soibugh, sustained injuries to his nose. Officials said his condition is stable and he is undergoing treatment.

Both injured persons were initially taken to CHC Soibugh before being referred to JVC Bemina for advanced medical care.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings under relevant sections of law to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident. [KNT]
