Srinagar, Feb 9, KNT: The unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir has shown a noticeable decline over the past four years, reflecting gradual improvement in employment conditions and economic activity across the Union Territory, according to official data.

As per the figures, the unemployment rate on usual status, considering principal and subsidiary status, has declined from 6.7 percent in 2019–20 to 6.1 percent in 2023–24. The reduction indicates a modest but sustained improvement in job availability and workforce engagement.

The positive trend is also reflected in key labour indicators. The Labour Force Participation Rate has increased to 64.3 percent in 2023–24, while the Worker Population Ratio has risen to 60.4 percent during the same period.
