Reasi, Feb 3, KNT: Two youths were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Dharangli Tote area of Reasi district early Tuesday morning, officials said.
The deceased were identified as Mannu, son of Rattan Singh, and Jagdev Singh, son of Balwan Singh, both hailing from Shoral. The accident occurred under circumstances that are yet to be fully ascertained.
Officials said the vehicle went out of control while negotiating a stretch of the road, resulting in it plunging into a deep gorge. Both occupants sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. Locals informed the authorities soon after the accident.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and retrieved the bodies from the gorge. The bodies were later shifted to a nearby medical facility for medico-legal formalities.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, particularly as Jagdev Singh was scheduled to get married on the 10th of this month. The sudden tragedy has left both families and the local community in shock and mourning.
A case has been registered, and further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway, officials added. [KNT]
