Woman Held with Heroin in Vijaypur, 6.40 Grams Chitta Seized


Samba, Feb 17, KNT: Samba Police on Tuesday arrested a woman on charges of drug peddling and recovered 6.40 grams of heroin-like substance, commonly known as chitta, from her possession in Vijaypur area of the district.

Officials said the arrest was made during routine naka checking at Rakh Barotain road near the AIIMS residential complex in Vijaypur. A police team from Police Station Vijaypur intercepted a woman pedestrian who was moving under suspicious circumstances.

During frisking, police recovered 6.40 grams of heroin-like substance along with a weighing machine from her possession. The contraband and the weighing scale were seized on the spot.

The accused has been identified as Soma Bibi, wife of Jamat Ali, an inhabitant of Rakh Barotian in tehsil Vijaypur of Samba district. She was taken into custody for further questioning.

Police have registered FIR No. 27/2026 under sections 8, 21 and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Police Station Vijaypur. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the contraband. [KNT]
