Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in North Kashmiri’s Sopore

Sopore, Sept 6: A 60-year-old man was killed in a tragic road accident after allegedly being run over by a truck in the Chankhan area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday, reports said.

The deceased was identified as Ghulam Nabi Ganaie, a resident of Untoo Hamam, Sopore.
According to preliminary reports, Ghulam Nabi was travelling in a tonga and had reportedly just alighted from it when a truck allegedly ran over him. The impact left him critically injured, and he died on the spot.
The incident triggered grief and shock among local residents, who expressed condolences to the bereaved family. The accident also raised concerns over road safety and the movement of heavy vehicles through populated areas.
The body was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore for medico-legal formalities. After completion of the necessary procedures, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.
Meanwhile, police have initiated necessary proceedings and are ascertaining the circumstances that led to the accident.
