A Landmark step for Kashmir Horticulture Farmvision Signs Landmark MoU with Poland’s Jankowski Nursery to Bring World-Class European Nursery Technology to Indi
Proposed joint venture to begin production from 2027 onwards; agreement signed in Poland in the presence of Dutch experts and members of the Polish Nursery Association.

Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir: In a landmark development for India’s horticulture industry, Farmvision Private Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jankowski, one of Europe’s long-established nursery enterprises based in Poland, with approximately 80 years of experience in nursery production.
The MoU was signed in Poland by Ahsaan Ali Jan, Managing Director of Farmvision Private Limited, in the presence of Dutch horticultural experts and members of the Polish Nursery Association. The signing marks a significant step towards strengthening international cooperation in nursery production and bringing advanced European horticultural expertise to India.
Under the proposed collaboration, Farmvision Private Limited and Jankowski plan to establish a joint venture company in India dedicated to producing world-class horticultural planting material. The venture will combine Jankowski’s decades of nursery production experience with Farmvision’s local expertise, infrastructure and investment in modern agricultural technology. Production is expected to commence from 2027 onwards.
Addressing the Challenges of Importing European Planting Material

The proposed collaboration stems from the practical challenges Farmvision has experienced while importing planting material from European nurseries. Although European planting material offers access to advanced varieties and established production standards, transporting live plants over long distances presents significant operational and financial difficulties.
Transportation losses, plant mortality during prolonged transit, high international logistics costs and lengthy quarantine procedures after arrival in India have made the import process increasingly challenging for businesses. Depending on the applicable quarantine requirements and the material involved, imported plants may need to remain under quarantine for an extended period, potentially one to two years. Such prolonged holding periods can delay commercial utilisation, increase maintenance and infrastructure expenses, tie up working capital and create uncertainty for enterprises dealing in large volumes of planting material.
These challenges can affect the timely availability of plants for orchard establishment, increase the overall cost of procurement and make long-term business planning more difficult. For a growing horticultural enterprise, repeated transportation losses, extended quarantine periods and high logistics expenditure can significantly affect operational efficiency and commercial viability.
Recognising these difficulties through its own import experience, Farmvision has taken a strategic step towards developing advanced nursery production capabilities within India. By establishing a domestic production base in collaboration with an experienced European nursery, the company aims to bring international expertise closer to Indian growers while reducing the logistical and operational challenges associated with importing live planting material.
Bringing European Nursery Expertise to India
The proposed joint venture aims to establish modern nursery production systems in India by combining European technical knowledge with local infrastructure, investment and operational capabilities. The initiative is expected to improve the accessibility of high-quality planting material, strengthen domestic production capacity and support the long-term development of India’s nursery industry.
By producing planting material closer to the end market, the venture seeks to reduce dependence on long-distance transportation and help growers access plants more efficiently. Subject to applicable plant health, certification and regulatory requirements, domestic production could also reduce exposure to prolonged international transit and import-related holding costs.
As part of its commitment to mechanisation and international production standards, Farmvision Private Limited has already invested in advanced agricultural machinery, including high-technology spraying equipment, specialised planting machinery and modern weed-management systems. These investments are intended to improve operational efficiency, precision and consistency while supporting large-scale nursery production.
A Significant Step for Jammu and Kashmir’s Horticulture Industry
The collaboration holds particular significance for Jammu and Kashmir, where horticulture, especially apple cultivation, plays a vital role in the regional economy. With growers increasingly shifting towards high-density orchards, advanced rootstocks and modern plantation systems, the availability of healthy, high-quality and reliable planting material has become essential for the future growth of the industry.
By combining European nursery expertise with local production capabilities, the proposed venture seeks to establish a strong foundation for producing advanced planting material under Indian conditions. It also represents an opportunity to bring established international nursery practices closer to Indian growers and strengthen the country’s domestic horticultural supply chain.
For Farmvision Private Limited, the agreement reflects a long-term commitment to innovation, mechanisation and the modernisation of nursery production. The company aims to bridge the gap between Europe’s established nursery industry and India’s expanding demand for advanced planting material while addressing the real-world challenges associated with importing live plants.
The signing of the MoU in Poland, witnessed by Dutch horticultural experts and members of the Polish Nursery Association, further highlights the international dimension of the collaboration and the importance of knowledge exchange in developing modern horticulture.
With production planned from 2027 onwards, the proposed joint venture represents a forward-looking investment in India’s horticultural future. It aims to contribute to improved access to planting material, more efficient nursery operations, reduced import-related logistical burdens and the continued transformation of the country’s orchard industry.
The partnership between Farmvision Private Limited and Jankowski represents an important step towards bringing world-class European nursery expertise to India while building domestic capacity to meet the evolving needs of Indian horticulture.
