Fire Breaks Out in Khag’s Nawroz Baba Forest, Joint Teams Prevent Spread

 

Budgam, Dec 15, KNT: A forest fire broke out on Monday evening in the Nawroz Baba area of Khag, in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, triggering concern among locals after flames were spotted in Compartment S 29 of the Khag Block.

Officials said Fire and Emergency Services teams, supported by Khag Police, rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident.

Forest officials, including the Range Officer Beerwah and Ranger Officers of the Beerwah Forest Protection Force, reached the affected area to supervise the operation. Locals of Khag also joined the efforts, helping the teams restrict the fire from advancing deeper into the forest.

The coordinated response played a key role in containing the blaze. Firefighting teams worked continuously to bring the flames under control, and the operation was still underway when reports last came in.
