Cop on duty injured in road accident in Srinagar


Srinagar, Jan 6, KNT: A police personnel was injured in a road accident near Sher e Kashmir Park in Srinagar on Tuesday when a car hit him during naka checking duty, officials said.

According to officials, the accident involved an Alto car bearing registration number JK01AA 3022. The vehicle was being driven by a native of Buchwara, Dalgate.

Officials said the car hit SGCT Farooq Ahmed, who was performing naka checking duty at the spot. At the time of the incident, the police personnel was on official duty. an official said.

The injured policeman was immediately shifted to SMHS Hospital for medical treatment. His condition is stated to be stable.

Police said a case has been registered at Kothibagh Police Station under FIR No. 01/26 for offences under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation into the incident is in progress.[KNT]
