Authorities Deploy Hi-Tech Machines to Reopen Strategic Interstate Bhaderwah–Chamba Route

Bhaderwah, Feb 3, KNT: Authorities on Tuesday launched snow clearance operations along the Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road following fresh snowfall, aiming to restore connectivity on the strategically important high-altitude route.
Officials said the highway, which links Jammu and Kashmir with Himachal Pradesh through mountainous terrain, has been closed due to heavy accumulation of snow at higher reaches. Multiple hi-tech snow clearance machines have been deployed and are operating round the clock to remove snow and make the road motorable.
The Bhaderwah–Chamba road is considered a vital link for movement of locals, essential supplies and emergency services, particularly during winter months when alternate routes remain limited. Officials said priority was being given to vulnerable stretches prone to avalanches and slippery conditions.
Authorities said field teams were working in challenging weather conditions to ensure early restoration of traffic, adding that safety protocols were being strictly followed during the clearance operations. Traffic advisories are expected to be issued once the road condition improves.
