Soz Expresses Terms Assassination of Khamnei a Great Loss to Islamic World


Srinagar, Mar 2, KNT: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz on Monday expressed deep grief over the assassination of Iran’s revolutionary leader Ayoutullah Khamnai, terming it a loss not only for Iran but for the wider Islamic world.

In a statement issued to the press, Soz said the demise of Imam Khamnai, has created a void that would remain unfilled for a long time. He described him as a unifier and promoter of peace and harmony who worked towards strengthening cohesion within the Muslim Ummah.

Soz stated that Khamnai,i’s efforts helped reduce sectarian divisions, adding that narratives of discord had receded during his leadership, bringing a sense of relief to many across the subcontinent.

Expressing solidarity, he said that Kashmir stands with Iran in this hour of grief. He voiced hope for peace and progress for Iran and said that Khomeini’s legacy would be remembered within and beyond the country for years to come.

Referring to global conflicts, Soz invoked the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, stating that forcibly dislodging people could never ensure lasting peace and that time has validated Gandhi’s perspective. He added that Israel should heed such counsel to promote peace in the region.

Soz concluded by expressing hope that wisdom and dialogue would prevail in the larger interest of global harmony. [KNT]
