Srinagar’s Heritage Run Revived, Khyber Cement Comes Onboard as Title Sponsor

 

Srinagar, May 2, KNT: Khyber Cement has come on board as the title sponsor for the ‘Run for Shahrekhaas’ 2026, marking the return of the 10-kilometer heritage run in Srinagar after a gap of nearly a decade.

The event is being organized by Fucan Sports in collaboration with Kashmir Sports Welfare Association and is scheduled to take place on May 17.

The run is designed to highlight the architectural and cultural landscape of Srinagar’s old city, with the route mapped across several historic locations. It will begin at Badamwari Garden Gate (Kathidarwaza) and conclude at Islamia College, Hawal, passing through landmarks including Khanqah-e-Moula, Budshah Tomb, and Jamia Masjid.

Company officials said the initiative aligns with efforts to promote both fitness and cultural awareness. Umar Tramboo, Director Corporate and Strategy at Khyber Cement, said the event reflects the company’s engagement with the region’s heritage and identity.

Wasim Ahmed Khan, Chief of Sales and Customer Relations, said the company aims to support initiatives that encourage youth participation and bring attention to historic sites in Srinagar.

The return of the event is expected to draw participation from athletes and residents, with organizers positioning it as both a sporting and cultural engagement activity.
