Veteran Rescuer Abu Hamza Honoured for Saving Over 1,000 Lives


Srinagar, June 30, KNT: Veteran rescuer Majid Hussain, widely known as Abu Hamza, was felicitated during the Travel Agents Society of Kashmir (TASK) election event in Srinagar on Tuesday in recognition of his exceptional humanitarian service and life-saving rescue operations across the Valley.
Abu Hamza has earned widespread respect for rescuing more than 1,000 people from rivers, streams and floodwaters during emergencies and natural disasters in different parts of Kashmir over the years.
The felicitation ceremony acknowledged his courage, dedication and selfless commitment to saving lives, with members of the tourism fraternity and several dignitaries appreciating his outstanding contribution to society.
Speaking to reporters after receiving the honour, Abu Hamza thanked the people of Kashmir for their unwavering love, encouragement and support. He said the recognition would further strengthen his resolve to continue serving humanity.

He reaffirmed that he would always remain ready to respond whenever natural disasters or emergencies strike and would extend every possible assistance to those in distress. He added that the trust reposed in him by the people of Kashmir remains his greatest motivation and pledged to continue his rescue mission with the same dedication.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Tangmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah, Hotel and Restaurant Association President Mushtaq Chaya, office-bearers of the Travel Agents Society of Kashmir and representatives of various tourism and trade bodies were present during the felicitation ceremony.
