Petrol Pump in Srinagar Fined for Shortchanging Consumers

Srinagar, Sep 10, KNTL The Legal Metrology Department’s Enforcement Unit in Kashmir capital Srinagar imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on a petrol pump for delivering less fuel to customers.

During a surprise inspection recently, officials discovered that two nozzles at the fuel station were dispensing 40 ml less fuel for every 5 liters sold.

The offending nozzles as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust were seized on the spot, and the Petrol Pump Management was forced to pay the fine under Section 30 of the Legal Metrology Act.

The Legal Metrology Department also extracted an undertaking from the management, promising that such practices would not be repeated in the future. [KNT]
