Srinagar, Oct 10, KNT:- People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti has strongly condemned the National Conference (NC) for allegedly unleashing violence and hooliganism against her party workers. Speaking at a press conference in Srinagar, Iltija accused NC workers of abusing, assaulting, and even stealing livestock from PDP supporters in the Sri Gufwara-Bijbehara assembly segment.

Iltija Mufti, who recently lost the election to NC candidate Bashir Ahmed Veeri, claimed that her party workers were brutally assaulted in Bijbehara and vowed not to tolerate such behavior. “NC has a history of resorting to hooliganism, but this time, their workers have crossed limits in South Kashmir,” she said.

Iltija Mufti as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust expressed concern that the newly elected NC MLA from Bijbehara will allow a reign of terror in the coming years. She commended the civil and police administration for registering FIRs against the perpetrators.

Iltija Mufti alleged that NC and CPIM workers have been targeting Jamat-i-Islami workers in Kulgam district. She also criticized NC workers for setting off firecrackers during Azan time and abusing women and others.

While congratulating NC and Omar Abdullah on their electoral victory, Iltija Mufti stressed that this doesn’t give their workers license to engage in violence and intimidation. She urged the authorities to take action against those responsible and ensure the safety of PDP workers and supporters.

“I won’t tolerate abuse and violence against my workers NC workers can abuse me and my mother Mehbooba Mufti, but not my workers,” she said. [KNT]
