Encounter breaks out in Kulgam’s Gudar forest

Kulgam, Sep 8, KNT: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces on Monday in the forest area of Gudar in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Officials said the gunfight erupted after a joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs about militant presence.

Sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust, that the operation is continuing in the dense forest zone and reinforcements have been rushed to prevent the militants from escaping. The identity and number of militants believed to be trapped in the area have not been officially confirmed yet.
