State Human Rights Commission has issued an advisory in the interest of the general public in which people have been advised not to wash their eyes in case they feel sensation or irritation because of pepper gas.
“It is for the information of the general public that whoever feels sensation or irritation of pepper gas in his or her eyes must avoid washing his or her eyes with water. As per the experts, the contents of pepper gas are not soluble in water, rather the use of water will be detrimental for the eyes and for the vision,” SHRC said.
According to Secretary SHRC, this advisory has been issued in the interest of the general public while the cases relating to pepper gas are being heard by the Commission on a priority basis.
SHRC’s advisory comes in the backdrop of the frequent use of pepper gas on protesters by joint forces across Kashmir Valley. [KNT]
