Teen-age girl jumps into river Jehlum in Srinagar, operation underway

An operation from the River Police is underway to trace the body of a Kupwara girl from the river Jehlum in Srinagar city.

As reported earlier, a 17-year-old girl jumped from the footbridge connecting Sonwar with Gadhanzpora Raj Bagh area of Srinagar into river Jehlum on Sunday evening.

A River Police official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that since Sunday evening the operation is underway and efforts are on to trace her body.

He identified the girl as Rabiya Afzal, a resident of Trehgam Kupwara. [KNT]
