SIU presents chargesheet against 5 alleged Let associates in South Kashmir

State Investigation Unit of South Kashmir’s Shopian district today presented a charge sheet against five alleged militant associates before the Court of Special Judge Kulgam (designated under NIA Act).

The charge sheet was presented in connection with an FIR registered last year at police station Keller.

SIU identified the accused as Aaqib Hussain Nanda son of Aashiq Hussain Nanda, Gowhar Manzoor Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad  Bhat, residents of Drabgam Pulwama, Aasif Lateef son of Lateef Ahmed Naik resident of  Babapora Zainapora, Afloq Yousuf Digoo son of Muhammad Yousuf Digoo and Umer  Hussain Dar son of Muhammad Amin Dar, residents of Naina Batpora, Pulwama.

The accused as per the SIU of Jammu Kashmir Police were part of a conspiracy well hatched by accused active LeT militant Raqeebullah of Pakistan and accused late Uzair Ashraf son of Muhammad Ashraf Dar of Melhora Shopian. The latter was killed in an encounter with the government forces.

As per SIU, last year, two militant associates of the proscribed militant outfit LeT namely Gowhar Manzoor Bhat and Aaqib Hussain Nanda were apprehended at a checkpoint jointly laid by Police, CRPF & Army at village Gulabtang Keller. From their possession, incriminating materials, arms & ammunition, and cash were recovered by the joint party. During the investigation, three more militant associates namely Asif Lateef, Afloq Yousuf, and Umer Hussain Dar were arrested besides involvement of one militant namely slain Uzair Ashraf also surfaced.

During the course of further investigation, it has been found that the accused persons were working as militant associates on the instance of Pakistan-based active LeT militant Raqeebullah. The investigation conducted revealed that the accused persons had developed links with the active militants and were intentionally providing them with all kinds of support. They were found active supporters of the proscribed militant outfit LeT.

State Investigation Unit Shopian said that it will continue the investigation on other parts of the case so that accused persons are produced before the Court for justice. [KNT]
