In a shocking incident, a son killed his mother in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Locals claim that the accused was a drug addict who under the influence of drugs choked her septuagenarian mother to death when she asked her to stop pelting stones on his brother’s house.

The gory incident occurred in Dangarpora area of Apple Town Sopore.

The accused drug addict Showkat Ahmed has been arrested by police on charges of murder.

The deceased has been identified as Ayesha Appa.
Local sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the accused drug addict pelted stones on the house of his brother Mushtaq Ahmed, living in another house beside the house of his mother. The mother came in open, asking Showkat to stop pelting stones and in a fit of rage he strangulated her to death.

This is the third incident in Kashmir where a son has killed his mother since October 2022. On December 22, a man in inebriated state attacked his family members and

neighbors with a wooden log killing three persons, including his mother, and injuring seven others in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Earlier in October last year, a resident of Kehribal in Anantnag killed his own mother only to steal money from the deceased. [KNT]
