Anantnag: Out of 15, 12 ultras killed after joining militancy in last 3 years

In the last 3 years, out of 15 militants who joined different militant outfits in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, 12 have been neutralized and 3 arrested including a hybrid militant.

The information as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust has been provided by Jammu Kashmir Police.

Four young men joined militant ranks in 2020 and all have been killed in different encounters.

Similarly, 5 men joined in 2021 out of which 4 were killed and one arrested.

Last year in 2022, out of 6 boys joining militant outfits 4 have been killed and 2 arrested.

Two slain militants who joined militancy were the residents of Arwani Bijbehara while an arrested militant Gulzar Ahmed Bhat was also from the same locality against whom a case is registered at police station Charar-e-Sharif.

Other two militants who have been arrested after joining militant ranks are Asif Bashir Ganai of Hasanpora Tawaila and Tanveer Ahmed Bhat of Waghama Bijbehara.

Those who were killed in different anti-militancy operations in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district after joining militancy were Shahid Ahmed and Nazir Ahmed Bhat, both residents of Arwani Bijbehara, Adil Ahmed Bhat of Sheetipora Bijbehara, Muhammad Shahid of Semthan, Faheem Ahmed Bhat of Kandipora Bijbehara, Ravees Ahmed Bhat of Shahabad Veeri Bijbehara, Abdul Rashid Thokar of Hassanpora Taweila, Hilal Ahmed Rah of Khotipora Waghama, Asif Ahmed Reshi of Sheikhpora Marhama, Wakeel Ahmed Bhat of Naibasti Marhama, Fayaz Ahmed Kumhar and Owais Ahmed Khan, both residents of Waghama Bijbehara.

Out of the 12 slain militants from South Kashmir, 3 militants namely Ravees Ahmed Bhat, Hilal Ahmed Rah and Muhammad Shahid Bhat were killed in 2 different encounters in Srinagar. [KNT]
