Indian Army Saturday said that it foiled the designs of the Pakistan army to sabotage G20 Summit in Kashmir Valley by foiling an infiltration bid from Pakistan army-backed militants in North Kashmir’s Uri Sector.

Srinagar-based Defense Spokesperson Emron Musavi said that Army foiled an infiltration bid by militants across the Line of Control in the Uri Sector of Jammu and Kashmir during the early morning hours today.

He said that a group of armed militants while attempting to cross the Line of Control, were engaged in an exchange of fire with the alert troops resulting in a failed attempt to intrude into Kashmir Valley.

He further said that a quadcopter flown by the Pakistan Army to aid the militants was also spotted across the Line of Control, and was fired at, causing it to withdraw.

“This desperate action by the militants, duly abetted by Pakistan Army, is yet another failed attempt to disrupt the G20 Summit and create disturbance in the Valley,” Colonel Musavi said adding that extensive search operations are underway in the densely forested area. [KNT]
