Infiltration bid foiled after exchange of fire in Poonch, 3 held

Army said that it foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir during pre-dawn hours of Wednesday.

Army said that infiltrators fired upon the joint forces that was retaliated. A couple of infiltrators sustained bullet injuries and managed to escape to the other part of Kashmir across the border.

“Three infiltrators who were present in the Indian part of Kashmir were arrested. One among them has sustained bullet injury and has been shifted to hospital.”

Army said that there was an input that a group of infiltrators will try to sneak into this part of Kashmir. The infiltration bid was foiled by the Army and Police who were on the qui vive.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered from the arrested infiltrators which include 60 grenades, 2 pistols, a couple of AK 56 rifles and 70 rounds.

Army said that 20 packets of Heroin have also been recovered from the spot of the encounter. [KNT]
