Weather office issues ‘Yellow Warning’ in Kashmir, overflowing of streams, vehicular disruption can’t be ruled out

Weather Office has issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ (Beware) for Jammu and Kashmir starting from 23 May (today) afternoon to 26 May.

The MeT office has informed that rain, thunderstorm are very likely to occur at most places from late afternoon onwards today while tomorrow (24 May) widespread light to moderate rain, thunder and lightning with possibility of hailstorm & strong gusty winds at few places are expected.

The Met as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust further added that moderate to heavy snowfall are expected over higher reaches tomorrow.

About the forecast on 25 and 26 May, the MeT office said that intermittent rain, thunderstorm at scattered places are likely to occur while from 27 to 29 May the weather will be generally cloudy.

The Meteorological office has said that due to widespread rainfall, the local streams especially low lying one may overflow while waterlogging in low lying areas is also expected.

“There may be damage to crops due to hailstorm and lightening at some places and temporary disruption of surface transportation, especially Srinagar- Jammu, Zojila, Mughal Road, Sinthan Top can’t be ruled out. [KNT]
