Truck owner, driver from Kashmir killed in Leh road accident

In a fatal road accident in Ladakh region, two locals from Kashmir died on Friday morning.

Official sources said that a vegetable-laden truck from central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district was on way to Leh when it skidded off the road near Nimoo Bazgo area on Kargil-Leh highway.

The truck (JK03D-5004) was completely damaged in the mishap while the truck owner Zahoor Ahmed Wani of Yengroo Ganderbal who was traveling towards Leh in the truck died on the spot.

The driver of the truck identified as Shahnawaz Sofi of Saloora Ganderbal succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Police in this regard have registered a case under relevant sections of law. After legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to families for last rites. [KNT]
