Srinagar, July 31, KNT: In a first, Srinagar International Airport has decided to introduce an ‘automated vehicle parking system.’
Airport Director, Srinagar, Javed Anjum stated that the Airport Authority of India is coming up with an advanced automated parking system, specially designed to enhance the parking experience of passengers and visitors while minimizing human interference.
“ This policy is implemented across India,” he informed.
“The main feature of the automated parking system is inherently designed with reasonable and logical tariffs calculated on the basis of dwell time which will make it fair and transparent. The system will have time-stamping at four designated points within the Airport and Parking to enhance accountability and ensure accuracy.”
The Director as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said that the vehicle will be mapped at the entry point and will be allowed a reasonable time of 14 minutes to enter the Airport for drop off/pick up of passengers.
“If the vehicle doesn’t cross Airport Exit within the free time of 14 minutes, it will be charged 1st slab of parking fee i.e, Rs 40. However there is no free time for commercial vehicles.”
“Further, if the vehicle enters the parking area of the Airport, the charges will be applicable based on the time spent in parking. The permissible free time from the parking exit to Airport exit will be 5 minutes. Further to enhance convenience and to provide seamless experience, the parking system will be integrated with Fastag Technology allowing for quicker Exits.” [KNT]
