Unregulated Traffic Chaos in Ganderbal Causes Daily Hardships

Srinagar, Mar 11, KNT: Residents of Ganderbal are grappling with severe traffic congestion in the town, particularly along the Nagbal-Ganderbal road, due to the absence of proper traffic regulations. The persistent jams have disrupted daily life, affecting businesses, government employees, and students who struggle to reach their destinations on time.
Locals said that reckless driving and poor enforcement of traffic rules are the primary reasons behind the chaos. “Tourist vehicles traveling from Dargah to Sonamarg via Ganderbal worsen the situation. The road is too narrow, and their constant overtaking to reach their destination faster leads to frequent gridlocks,” a local resident said.
Residents have urged the authorities, particularly DIG Traffic, to take immediate action. They have demanded a ban on tourist vehicles using the Ganderbal route and suggested diverting them through Srinagar-Shaltang Road to Sonamarg. “This would ensure smooth travel for school-going children and government employees, allowing them to reach their offices and homes on time,” the resident added.
The public has called for stricter enforcement of traffic rules to ease congestion and improve daily commuting in the town.
