Khattar, Omar Discuss Power & Housing Projects in Srinagar, Union Minister Praises J&K’s Smart Meter Progress

 

Srinagar, June 12, KNT: Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar met with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar to review the state’s progress in power and housing projects.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Minister Khattar expressed satisfaction over the development efforts, particularly in the power sector. He praised Jammu and Kashmir for making rapid advancements, especially in the installation of smart and prepaid smart meters, noting that the UT is ahead of many other states in this area.

“A great deal of work is being done in both Power and Housing sectors. Any issues have been shared mutually with the Centre and the UT government to ensure smooth progress,” Khattar said, adding that J&K’s achievements in metering technology stand out on the national level.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also spoke to the media, stating that the meeting focused on centrally sponsored schemes in the power and urban development sectors. He acknowledged suggestions from the Union Government and said his administration is committed to acting on them.

“We have certain expectations from the Centre, and we’ve received feedback on areas where improvement is needed. We will address those shortcomings,” Omar Abdullah said. [KNT]
