Landslides Shut Srinagar–Ladakh Highway at Zojila

Ganderbal, Aug 26, KNT: The Srinagar–Ladakh highway was closed for vehicular movement on Tuesday after heavy rains triggered landslides at Panimatha and Bajri Nallah near Zojila, officials said.

The landslides occurred in the afternoon, blocking the strategic road that connects Kashmir with Ladakh and Kargil. Traffic authorities immediately stopped vehicles at the Sonamarg checkpoint to prevent them from moving towards the affected stretch.

“Due to the downpour, landslides struck multiple spots near Zojila. Traffic has been halted as a precautionary measure to avoid any mishap,” an official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.
