Police seize unhygienic meat, expired eatables in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal, Duo arrested

 

Ganderbal, Sept 5, KNT: Police in Ganderbal have registered two separate FIRs after recovering rotten mutton products and expired food items from sale points in Safapora and Beehama areas of the district.

Officials said Police Station Safapora received reliable inputs about a person allegedly selling rotten and unhygienic meat in frozen form at Kondabal Safapora. A joint team comprising Safapora police, the Food Safety Officer, and the Executive Magistrate raided the shop belonging to Abdul Hameed Lone, son of Ghulam Hassan Lone of Kondabal.

During inspection, a considerable quantity of boiled meat items including Rista and Kabab were found in a frozen, rotten and unhygienic condition, unfit for human consumption. The accused was arrested accordingly.

In another case, Ganderbal Police raided Matamal Food Sale Point at Beehama after receiving inputs that expired items were being used for cooking food. Expired eatables were seized from the kitchen during the search and the owner was arrested.

Police said investigations in both cases have been taken up and assured the public that strict action will continue against those indulging in practices that endanger public health. [KNT]
