Income Tax Department Conducts Raids in Srinagar, Searches at Shalimar Residence and Nishat Showroom of Businessman

 

Srinagar, Oct 1, KNT: The Income Tax Department on Wednesday carried out raids at multiple locations in Srinagar, including the residence and business establishment of a local businessman.

Officials told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the searches were conducted at the house of a well-known hotelier and businessman, located at Shalimar. Simultaneously, another raid was carried out at his showroom at Brein Nishat.

Teams of income tax officials, accompanied by police, searched the premises and examined documents related to financial transactions. The operations began early in the day and were still continuing at the time of filing this report.

Sources said the raids are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities. “Relevant records and documents are being scrutinised. Further details will be shared once the operation concludes,” a source said.

The Income Tax Department also conducted a raid at a hotel in the Humhama area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. [KNT]
