Over 1 Lakh Casual and Daily-Rated Workers Registered Through Aadhaar-Based Profiling: GAD

Srinagar, Oct 31, KNT: The General Administration Department (GAD) today informed the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly that a total of 1,00,501 casual labourers, daily-rated workers, and other need-based employees have been registered online through Aadhaar-based biometric identification and skill profiling.

The details were shared by the GAD in response to a question raised by the MLA from Pulwama, Wahid Para, confirming that the process of Aadhaar-linked registration had been completed across all departments in the Union Territory.

According to the official data, the Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control Department (PHE/I&FC) has the highest number of such workers at 13,616, followed by the Power Development Department (including PDC) with 38,585, and the Education Department with 12,646 registered workers.

Other departments with substantial numbers include the Forest Department (8,317), Public Works Department (R&B) (6,801), and the Health and Medical Education Department (4,868).

The statement further shows that these workers are categorized as casual labourers, seasonal labourers, daily-rated workers, part-time workers, CIC operators, NYC workers, hospital fund employees, and other related categories.

The data is part of a comprehensive workforce profiling exercise undertaken to streamline records and bring transparency in the engagement of casual and need-based workers across government departments. [KNT]
