Crime Branch Charges Policeman for Job Scam in Pulwama

 

Srinagar, Nov 30, KNT: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 15/2025 under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code before the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Pulwama, against Riyaz Ahmad Dar of Naroo Ratnipora, Pulwama, for allegedly cheating multiple individuals by promising them government jobs.

According to officials, Riyaz Ahmad Dar was serving as a head constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police at the time of the alleged offence. He was posted with the 21st Battalion and was identified under belt number 53/IRP and ARP number 993957. The case originated after the EOW Srinagar received credible information suggesting that the police official was misusing his position to extract money from job seekers by offering fake assurances of employment in government departments.

Following receipt of the information, a preliminary enquiry was registered at Police Station EOW Srinagar. During the verification process, investigators found material suggesting that the accused had induced several persons to part with money by falsely claiming he could arrange government jobs using his official influence.

Officials said that after the allegations were substantiated during the enquiry, a formal case under Section 420 IPC was registered and a detailed investigation was launched. Statements of victims were recorded and financial transactions were examined to establish the alleged flow of money.

The investigation concluded that the accused had engaged in deliberate misrepresentation and financial deception, resulting in wrongful loss to multiple individuals. The EOW stated that the acts committed by the accused constituted cheating and dishonest inducement for delivery of property, making the offence punishable under law.

The chargesheet was accordingly presented before the court for judicial proceedings.

Crime Branch Kashmir said it remains committed to acting firmly against corruption and fraudulent practices, particularly cases involving abuse of official position to exploit citizens. [KNT]
