Two Accused Booked for Cheating Buyers of Over Rs 29 Lakh in Land Deal

 

Srinagar, Nov 14, KNT: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in case FIR No. 30/2023 before the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Kangan, against two persons accused of fraudulently selling land and cheating buyers of over twenty-nine lakh rupees.

Officials said the chargesheet has been filed under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code against Abdul Hamid Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar, resident of Ariguripora Shadi Gund, Kangan, and Abdul Qayoom Sheikh, son of Mohammad Sultan Sheikh, resident of Chak Akhal Guri Mohallah, Kangan.

The case originated from a written complaint alleging that the two accused sold 4 kanals and 16 marlas of land at Kachnambal near Baba Nagri Road, Kangan, for a consideration amount of Rs 27,00,000. The complainants also paid an additional Rs 96,000 for securing a No Objection Certificate, Rs 52,000 for “Intikhab” (extract of records), and Rs 1,00,000 for preparation of legal documents.

After receiving the full payment and handing over possession of the land, the accused allegedly refused to provide the required revenue documents. Following preliminary verification, the Economic Offences Wing initiated a detailed probe.

Investigators found that the accused, posing as land brokers, had sold land that did not belong to them and had misappropriated the money received from the complainants. The inquiry established that the deal was fraudulent, and the accused had conspired to cheat the buyers.

On completion of the investigation and corroboration of evidence,including statements, revenue records and payment proofs, the Crime Branch filed the chargesheet for judicial determination.[KNT]
