CM Writes to JKPSC Seeking Postponement of JKCCE Prelims Amid Travel Chaos

Srinagar, Dec 6, KNT: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has written to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission seeking postponement of the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination 2025, citing extraordinary hardships being faced by aspirants due to ongoing disruptions in air services and uncertainty over age relaxation.
In his communication addressed to JKPSC Chairman Arun Kumar Choudhary, the Chief Minister said widespread cancellation, rescheduling and delays in flights have severely affected the movement of candidates, creating serious logistical challenges for aspirants travelling from within and outside the Union Territory.
The Chief Minister also flagged anxiety among candidates over the proposed age relaxation, describing it as an enabling provision that has been extended on multiple occasions in the past. He said the lack of clarity on this issue has further compounded uncertainty regarding eligibility, adding to the stress faced by aspirants ahead of the examination.
Stressing the principles of fairness, equity and equal opportunity, the Chief Minister urged the Commission to consider a reasonable deferment of the examination purely in the interest of candidates, so that no aspirant is placed at a disadvantage due to circumstances beyond their control.
