TEDx Dal Lake Prepares for International-Grade Platform Showcasing Kashmir’s Changemakers

Srinagar, Dec 5, KNT: TEDx Dal Lake has convened a meeting with its organising team, leading content creators and prominent thinkers from across Kashmir to lay the foundation for an international-standard event aimed at showcasing the Valley’s changemakers to a global audience. The organisers said the initiative is designed to highlight powerful stories of resilience, innovation and leadership emerging from the region.

The meeting was led by the core team comprising Irfan Attari, RJ Umar Nisar and Dr Amit Wanchoo, whose backgrounds in social activism, broadcasting and entrepreneurship helped shape the discussions. They said TEDx Dal Lake intends to build a cultural movement that redefines how the world sees Kashmir, presenting authentic narratives rooted in community impact.
Content creators from various districts shared insights on digital storytelling and stressed the need to involve young voices who influence public conversations every day. They said the platform could bridge Kashmir’s creative youth with global thought leaders while amplifying unheard stories from the region.
Educators, intellectuals and entrepreneurs also participated, offering suggestions on speaker selection, thematic consistency and maintaining TED’s global standards without diluting Kashmir’s identity. They emphasised that the platform should be inclusive, giving space to both established personalities and emerging contributors.

Organisers said the theme “Changemakers of Kashmir” reflects the region’s ongoing transformation, capturing journeys of individuals shaping society through education, entrepreneurship, activism and creative expression. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to build one of the Valley’s most meaningful intellectual events.
