Nishat Incident: Assault Incident and Woman’s Death Are Separate Events


Srinagar, Jan 31, KNT: A family in Nishat Saturday clarified that the death of a woman in the Zeithyar area of Nishat on the outskirts of Srinagar was due to a suspected natural cardiac arrest and has no direct connection with an assault incident reported in the locality on the same day.
Family sources said the woman collapsed at her residence and was later declared dead, with preliminary assessment indicating a suspected heart attack. Police said no injury marks or signs of violence were found on her body, and the death is being treated as natural.

Separately, police confirmed that an assault incident took place in the same locality, where two unidentified persons allegedly forcibly entered the house of a Sumo driver, an inhabitant of Zeithyar Nishat, and assaulted him, causing injuries.
Police personnel from Nishat Police Station reached the spot soon after the assault and the injured man was taken to hospital after police found him under the influence of alcohol. He was provided medical assistance and is presently questioned, officials said.
A case in connection with the assault has been registered under FIR No. 7/26 at Police Station Nishat, and investigations are underway to identify and trace the attackers. [KNT]
