SOG, CRPF carry out intensive frisking at key city locations

Srinagar, Jan 22, KNT: Security arrangements were stepped up across Srinagar on Thursday as Special Operations Group (Cargo) along with Valley Quick Reaction Team of the CRPF carried out intensive frisking and checking operations ahead of Republic Day, officials said.

The joint teams were seen conducting thorough checking of vehicles and pedestrians at several sensitive and high footfall areas of the city, including Polo View, TRC, MA Road, Ghanta Ghar, Koker Bazar and Hari Singh High Street. Security personnel were deployed in strength, with checkpoints established to monitor movement and prevent any untoward incident.

Officials said the intensified security measures are part of a standard security drill ahead of Republic Day to ensure safety and maintain law and order. Random frisking, vehicle verification and identity checks were carried out during the operation.
