Poonch, Jan 1, KNT: Security forces have launched a joint search operation in areas close to the Line of Control in Poonch district following reports of a suspected drone dropping in the region.
Officials said the operation was initiated after inputs suggested possible aerial activity near the LoC, raising security concerns. Acting swiftly on the information, teams of the Indian Army, Special Operations Group and the Jammu and Kashmir Police moved into the area to conduct intensive searches.
The joint teams have cordoned off vulnerable locations and are carrying out thorough ground searches to ascertain whether any suspicious material was dropped by the drone. Officials said additional checkpoints have been established, and surveillance has been intensified in forward areas as a precautionary measure.
Security sources said that forces remain on high alert, particularly along the Line of Control, in view of the potential use of drones for cross border activities. No recovery had been reported till the filing of this report, officials added.
