Jammu Should Get Larger Share of ₹100 Crore Flood Aid, Says BJP MLA ‘All Districts are Equal, Responds DyCM

Jammu, Feb 3, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday witnessed a brief ruckus after BJP MLA Rajiv Jasrotia questioned the allocation of ₹100 crore as flood relief for victims across 20 districts, arguing that Jammu had suffered comparatively heavier losses and deserved a larger share of the funds.
Raising the issue during proceedings, Jasrotia said the distribution of relief did not reflect the extent of damage in Jammu region, asserting that several areas had faced severe destruction and required focused financial assistance. He urged the government to reassess the allocation mechanism to ensure justice to flood-affected inhabitants of Jammu.
Responding to the criticism, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary said the government was committed to equitable treatment of both Jammu and Kashmir regions. He asserted that under the Omar Abdullah-led government, no region would be discriminated against and all decisions were being taken in a balanced and inclusive manner.
Choudhary said relief measures were framed keeping in view the overall situation across districts and the objective was to provide support wherever losses had occurred. He stressed that both regions were equally important for the government and that welfare considerations were being applied uniformly.
