Khag shopkeepers directed to modify sloping rooftops amid snowfall risk

NEWS AGENCY KASHMIR NEWS TRUST #KNT

Budgam, Feb 1, KNT: The Tehsildar Khag has issued a public notice directing shopkeepers and shop owners of the main markets of Khag and Poshker in Budgam district to take immediate corrective measures to prevent snow-related hazards during winter.

According to the notice, it has been observed that several shops in the Khag and Poshker main markets have tin rooftops sloping towards the main road. During snowfall, snow slides down from these rooftops and accumulates on the road surface, creating slippery conditions and increasing the risk of accidents. The situation, the notice states, also poses a threat to life and property.

The Tehsildar has advised all shopkeepers and shop owners to take necessary action within seven days from the date of issuance of the notice. They have been directed to either change the slope of their rooftops away from the road or install proper snow stopper mechanisms to prevent snow from falling onto the road.

The notice further states that failure to comply within the stipulated time will result in the tin rooftops being removed or demolished, in addition to the imposition of fines on the defaulters as per rules.
