Labourer Dies of Electrocution in Srinagar 


Srinagar, Feb 22, KNT: A 45-year-old labourer died after reportedly suffering an electric shock while carrying out construction work in the Soura area of the city on Sunday.

Official sources identified the deceased as Mohammad Yousuf Wagay, son of Mohammad Ismail Wagay, a resident of DH Pora in Kulgam district.

According to information provided by the attendant, Wagay was engaged in shuttering work at the residence of Mudasir Ahmad Dar in Ahmad Nagar, Soura, when he allegedly came into contact with a live electric wire. He sustained a severe electric shock during the course of work.

He was immediately shifted to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, for treatment. However, doctors at the hospital examined him and declared him brought dead on arrival.

Authorities said medico-legal formalities are being carried out in accordance with procedure. Police have taken cognizance of the incident. [KNT]
