Jammu, Feb 18, KNT: BJP MLA Pawan Gupta on Wednesday said that instead of addressing substantive concerns, debates in the Legislative Assembly were being diverted and reduced to what he described as political drama.
Speaking to reporters, Gupta said it was unnecessary to attach any particular regional or community identity to the issue under discussion. He maintained that the core matter was the encroachment of state land and not the identity of those involved.
“The occupation of state land is the real issue,” Gupta said, asserting that eviction drives should be conducted uniformly against encroachers irrespective of caste, region, colour, creed or identity. He stressed that enforcement must remain impartial and based solely on the principle of protecting public property.
The BJP legislator further remarked that singling out any one community over land encroachment amounted to politicising the matter and undermined the seriousness of the issue. He described such attempts as a mockery of the Assembly’s responsibility to address governance challenges in a constructive manner.
