Crime Branch Files Chargesheet in Fraud Case Over Land, Job Promises

Srinagar, April 30, KNT: The Economic Offences Wing Kashmir of the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has submitted a chargesheet in case FIR No. 84/2022 under Section 420 of the Ranbir Penal Code against Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Astanpora, Tailbal Hazratbal, Srinagar.

The chargesheet has been filed before the court of Judge Small Causes Srinagar for judicial adjudication.

The case pertains to allegations dating back to January 2019, when the accused allegedly obtained a substantial amount of money from complainants on the pretext of providing Jammu Development Authority land and arranging government jobs for their relatives.

Investigations conducted by the Economic Offences Wing revealed that the accused failed to deliver on both counts. Police said the accused had allegedly deceived the complainants through false assurances and dishonestly obtained money.

The investigation concluded that sufficient evidence exists to establish the offence of cheating under Section 420 RPC, following which the chargesheet was filed before the competent court.

Officials said further proceedings in the case will now be decided by the court based on the evidence presented. [KNT]
